"Take My Breath" Chosen to Represent Tunisia at the 2025 Oscars

The film "Take My Breath", directed by Nada Mezni Hfaiedh, has been selected to represent Tunisia at the 2025 Oscars in the "Best International Feature Film" category. The National Center for Cinema and Image (CNCI) announced that the film meets the eligibility criteria defined by the Academy of Oscars.

This work, which tackles intersexuality through the character of Shams, a young seamstress living in a difficult environment, has been praised at several festivals. Since its release in 2023, "Take My Breath" has won the Best Film award at the Rotterdam Festival and the Grand Prix at the Geneva Festival. The lead actress, Amina Ben Ismaïl, was awarded for her portrayal of Shams.

Nada Mezni Hfaiedh, a graduate of the Montreal Film School, is recognized for her films that address sensitive subjects. Before the Oscars ceremony on March 3, 2025, the film will continue to compete in several international festivals.
