Italy Embassy in Tunis Suspends Visa Services

The Italian Embassy in Tunis has announced the suspension of receiving and issuing all categories of visas starting from mid-February.

Suspension Details

This measure will affect both the visa service at the Italian Embassy in Tunis and the centers managed by the provider Almaviva, from February 12th at 6:00 PM until February 18th, 2026, at midnight. This decision is part of the upcoming update of the Visa Information System (VIS), which will be deployed simultaneously by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome and by several diplomatic representations around the world.

Reassurance from the Embassy

The Italian Embassy in Tunis has, however, sought to reassure the public. Appointments that have already been scheduled will be rescheduled "as close as possible" to the initial dates, and priority will be given, once the systems are back up, to medical files, family reunification, or certain professional constraints.

Expected Delays

According to visahq, despite these commitments, providers anticipate a cumulative delay of at least 1,500 files, which could extend processing times until the beginning of March.
