United Nations Launches Program to Support Innovative African Startups in AI for Sustainable Development

In partnership with the Italian Presidency of the G7, the United Nations has launched a training program to support innovative African startups in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address sustainable development challenges.

The program, dubbed "AI Hub for Sustainable Development Co-Design: Startup Acceleration," aims to equip African startups with the necessary skills and networks to develop innovative AI solutions.

The program will target nine African countries: Tunisia, Algeria, the Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, and Mozambique.

Selected startups will benefit from tailored support, including mentorship sessions, specialized training, and the opportunity to participate in an international event in San Francisco. The goal is twofold: to enable startups to develop their projects and connect them with potential investors.

To be eligible, startups must propose AI solutions that address at least one of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. These solutions must also contribute to one of the three pillars of the AI for Sustainable Development Hub: digital distribution, talent development, and data quality.

The application deadline is set for August 5th.
