Start-ups in Tunisia: Only 10% of Market Potential Realized
In Tunisia, start-up labeled enterprises represent only about 10% of the market potential, according to Rim Saied, CEO of Smart Tunisian Technoparcs.
In an interview with the Tunisian Press Agency (TAP), she highlighted that the low rate of start-up labeled enterprises can be attributed to the fact that the innovation market remains largely open. Many Tunisian companies operate in innovative fields without obtaining this label.
As of late October 2024, 1,133 enterprises had obtained this labeling, demonstrating a strong growth potential and increasing interest in the emerging start-up status.
Tunisia was among the first countries to encourage innovation by launching the El Ghazala technology pole in 2000, specializing in technological industries. Today, the country has 11 poles dedicated to various sectors, offering support to enterprises.
Nearly 50% of the activities at the El Ghazala pole are dedicated to incubating and supporting start-ups, aiming to support them at every stage of their development. This dynamic has enabled several Tunisian start-ups to establish themselves internationally and attract foreign investors.
