Elon Musk Announces Starlink Availability in Yemen
First Country in the Middle East to Benefit from Satellite Internet Service
In a post on social network X on Wednesday, Elon Musk declared that Starlink is now available in Yemen. This makes Yemen the first country in the Middle East region to benefit from Starlink, a satellite internet service.
This is not the first time Elon Musk has provided internet access to countries in crisis. At the start of the Israel-Gaza war, Musk agreed to install a Starlink satellite over Gaza, following Israel's destruction of the strip's telecommunications networks at the beginning of the conflict.
Furthermore, he has also established links with Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
Regarding Yemen, the country has been hit by a major humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of war between rival factions in 2015, which has caused massive displacement in a country considered by the United Nations as a Least Developed Country (LDC).
