COMESA Summit Kicks Off in Burundi, Fostering Regional Economic Integration
The COMESA Summit began on October 29 in Bujumbura, Burundi, bringing together representatives from 21 African countries to strengthen regional economic integration.
Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti is attending this high-level event, participating in discussions aimed at stimulating trade and investment on the continent.
Since its creation in 1994, COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) has been recognized as the largest African economic space, comprising over 640 million inhabitants and recording annual trade exchanges of $324 billion.
Since Tunisia joined COMESA in 2020, the country has been working to diversify its exports to member states, contributing to its integration into this vast regional market.
On the sidelines of the conference, Mohamed Ali Nafti is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with African counterparts to discuss regional security and economic cooperation.
He will also meet with Tunisian entrepreneurs based in Burundi, demonstrating Tunisia's commitment to supporting its diaspora and strengthening its presence on the continent.
