SNIT to Obtain Land at Symbolic Dinar Rate, Reducing Social Housing Prices

According to the Tunisian Agency of Press (TAP), Fahmi Kamoun, the CEO of the Tunisian National Real Estate Company (SNIT), announced that a decree project is being prepared to allow the company to obtain land at a symbolic dinar rate. This measure is crucial, as land represents between 15% and 20% of the total cost of a housing unit. Kamoun emphasized that this would contribute to reducing the prices of social housing, in addition to efforts to reduce construction costs and encourage banks to offer financing at preferential rates.

Kamoun also highlighted SNIT's efforts to build affordable social housing units, such as those in Mornag, El Zahrouni, and Sidi Hassine, with prices ranging from 115,000 to 200,000 dinars. These units are intended for low-income individuals as part of the "FOPROLOS" program. In parallel, SNIT has launched "economic" housing projects, such as the "Les Jardins" residence in El Menzah 1, which, although more expensive, remain accessible.

The CEO specified that the construction of economic housing aims to ensure SNIT's financial balance, enabling the company to fulfill its commitments to suppliers and the National Social Security Fund. He stressed that the objective is not to make profits, but to respond to a need for financial balance to ensure the company's sustainability.
