Three Cooperation Agreements Signed at the First Mediterranean Decarbonization Forum

Three cooperation agreements were signed on September 24, 2024, between the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) and its partners, as part of the first Mediterranean Decarbonization Forum.

This initiative was led under the supervision of Fatma Thabet Chiboub, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, in the presence of Fathi Hanchi, Director General of ANME.

Agreement 1: ANME and the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME)

The first agreement was signed with the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME). This agreement aims to exchange expertise in the field of carbon emission reduction and support Tunisia's energy transition strategy.

The objectives set include promoting electric mobility, energy valorization of waste, and access to climate financing to stimulate investments in these sectors.

Agreement 2: ANME and the International Initiative Race to Zero

The second agreement was established with the international initiative Race to Zero, which works towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This agreement seeks to strengthen innovative initiatives in energy management in Tunisia. It provides access to international expertise, sustainable financing, and the identification of local projects with high potential, while reinforcing partnerships with the private sector.

Agreement 3: ANME and the Industrial Land Agency (AFI)

The third agreement was concluded with the Industrial Land Agency (AFI) and focuses on reforestation in industrial zones in El Agba (Tunis) and Ghannouch (Gabès).

This initiative, aimed at offsetting the 95 tons of CO2 equivalent generated by the forum, includes the planting of 5,000 trees, provided by the General Directorate of Forests.

These agreements reinforce Tunisia's commitment to energy transition and the fight against climate change, while promoting international and local cooperation for sustainable solutions.
