Ministry of Commerce and Export Development Sets Price Ceiling for Chicken
The Ministry of Commerce and Export Development reminds stakeholders that the maximum selling price of live chicken at the production level is set at 5,300 millimes per kilogram for breeders, while the selling price to consumers remains capped at 8,500 millimes per kilogram for ready-to-cook chicken.
The Ministry assures that the supply of poultry meat is proceeding normally and that efforts are underway to increase supply in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and sector professionals. To meet market needs, additional quantities will also be shipped to priority regions experiencing shortages, in partnership with suppliers willing to cooperate immediately.
Furthermore, the Ministry has announced strict measures to ensure price regularity and supply. Any infringement related to price gouging or non-compliance with supply will be subject to administrative and legal sanctions. Enhanced controls will be conducted to prevent abuses in the sector.
To report any violations of set prices, professionals and citizens can use the toll-free number 80100191, as well as the contacts of regional and central directorates, available on the Ministry's website here.
