Construction of New Jelma Regional Hospital Officially Begins
This week marked the official start of construction on the new Jelma regional hospital, a long-awaited project for the region's inhabitants.
Project Overview
The new hospital, classified as a category B establishment, is part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of care in the governorate.
Funding and Features
Financed with approximately 90 million dinars through a loan from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the project aims to be modern and comprehensive. The hospital will feature:
- 105 beds
- Three operating rooms
- Key services including:
- General surgery
- Internal medicine
- Gynecology and obstetrics
- Pediatrics
- Anesthesia and intensive care
- Emergency services The future facilities will also include:
- Outpatient clinics
- A medical imaging department
- Laboratories
- A pharmacy
- Technical and administrative spaces
Construction and Timeline
The hospital will be built on a site spanning over five hectares, with the construction phase expected to last 26 months. Upon completion, the Jelma regional hospital will bring a new dynamic to the healthcare system in the Sidi Bouzid region, providing better access to care for its inhabitants.
