Sidi Bou Saïd City Applies for UNESCO World Heritage Listing

Yesterday evening, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Amina Srarfi, signed the application dossier for the city of Sidi Bou Saïd, which will now be sent to the UNESCO headquarters in Paris for an 18-month study and evaluation period.

This evaluation process will take into account several criteria, including the city's architectural and artistic heritage, as well as the social and cultural interactions that characterize it.

According to the same source, the final results of this evaluation will be announced in the second half of 2026. This would be a key moment in Sidi Bou Saïd's journey, as it could gain worldwide recognition for its cultural heritage, strengthening its position as an exceptional cultural destination and contributing to the development of cultural tourism and the valorization of Tunisia on the international cultural scene.
