SFBT’s New ESG Report: A Strategic Framework Built on Double Materiality and Financial Excellence

SFBT’s new ESG report is grounded in a double materiality diagnostic that identified 61 key issues. The report outlines a strategy structured around twelve CSR commitments, distributed across five major action pillars. A testament to the robustness of its financial governance, the group has renewed its MSI 20000 certification, achieving a score of 160.982 out of 200—significantly exceeding the 150-point threshold required for excellence.

Water and Energy: Doubling the Gains

Last year, the group’s water savings surged to 63,181 m³, more than doubling the 30,878 m³ recorded in 2024. A significant portion of this performance is attributable to a technical shift: the transition from cooling towers to chilled water units, which yields an estimated saving of 10 m³ per day per installation. Additionally, all sites remain ISO 14001 certified and are equipped with wastewater treatment plants.

On the energy front, electricity consumption has decreased by 22% at the Bab Saadoun, Mahdia, Sfax, and Charguia sites. The Sfax site has obtained ISO 50001 certification, which focuses on energy management, while the SBT Koutine plant has reached a new milestone with the installation of a 1,700 kWc solar power plant, bringing its self-generated electricity to 13% of its total energy mix.

Waste Management and Human Capital

The valorization rate of industrial waste has risen to 87.47%, driven by the recycling of 2,976.875 tonnes of glass and the redirection of 26,000 tonnes of spent grain (drêche) to animal feed. On the social front, the group provided over 51,000 hours of training, a 24% increase year-on-year. Furthermore, the proportion of women in managerial positions has reached 42.5%, up from 38% a year earlier.

These indicators, validated by external audits and aligned with international standards (ISO, GRI, ESRS), enhance SFBT’s non-financial transparency for institutional investors. For SMEs in the agri-food sector, the trajectory charted by the group offers concrete pathways for optimizing industrial costs and accessing ESG-sensitive financing.
