Tunisian Companies Shine at APAS Show in Brazil
Seven Tunisian companies, specializing mainly in packaged olive oil and dates, are participating in the 39th edition of the APAS Show, taking place from May 12 to 15 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Organized by CEPEX, the Tunisian Embassy, and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce
This participation aims to strengthen the presence of Tunisian products in the Brazilian market, and more broadly in South America, according to CEPEX. With nearly 850 exhibitors and over 73,000 professional visitors from 200 countries, the APAS Show constitutes a strategic platform for valuing Tunisian products and developing new commercial partnerships across Latin America.
Growing Demand for Olive Oil and Dates in Brazil
CEPEX highlights that Brazilian imports of olive oil and dates are experiencing significant growth, benefiting Tunisian exporters already active in this market. Tunisia has established itself as the top provider of dates to Brazil, with a turnover of $6.5 million, accounting for 70% of the market, and registering a growth rate of 124% compared to 2023.
In the olive oil sector, Brazilian imports have increased by 18% in 2024, reaching $695 million compared to $589 million the previous year. Tunisia occupies the fifth position with approximately $20 million in exports, with a cumulative increase of 119% over two years.
Brazil Lifts Tariffs on Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The Brazilian government removed tariffs on the importation of extra virgin olive oil in March, a measure aimed at responding to growing local demand and stabilizing prices. This decision represents a major opportunity for Tunisian companies seeking to consolidate their position in this expanding market.
