Senegal to Build Special Economic Zone in Louga Region

The Senegalese government plans to construct a special economic zone in the Louga region, located in the north, as part of the implementation of the national industrial development strategy, announced Minister of Industry and Commerce, Serigne Guèye Diop, last week.

The Louga special economic zone will span 50 hectares, and the 45 zones are expected to generate approximately 3 million jobs in the long term.

Senegal currently has five special economic zones, located in the following regions:

  • Diamniadio (53 hectares)
  • Sandiara (100 hectares)
