Egypt's National Wage Council Raises Minimum Wage for Private Sector Workers

The National Wage Council in Egypt has decided to increase the minimum wage for private sector workers to 7,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately $140) starting from March 1, 2025, up from the current 6,000 pounds ($120). This decision aims to adapt to economic developments and improve the purchasing power of workers.

According to several sources, the council, chaired by the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, has set the minimum annual increase at 3% of the salary subject to social insurance contributions, with a floor of 250 pounds ($5) per month. Additionally, the minimum wage for part-time jobs has been established at 28 pounds ($0.56) per hour.
