A press conference was organized by the Arts & Culture Foundation by UIB on June 21, 2024, at the Barceló Concorde Les Berges du Lac hotel, to mark the launch of the 37th edition of the El Jem International Symphonic Music Festival.

Notable attendees included:

  • Sarah Bensafia, General Secretary of the Foundation
  • Ouassel Bahri, Director of Communication at UIB Bank
  • Ilhem Bouaziz, President of the Féminin by UIB Association and DGA of the International Union of Banks
  • Moufida Hamza, Vice-President of Féminin by UIB and CFO of UIB
  • Ramzi Jenayah, President of the El Jem Festival Association

In her opening remarks, Sarah Bensafia, General Secretary of the Foundation, emphasized the importance of the partnership with the El Jem Festival, highlighting the human aspect before financial support. "It's a commitment that is both sincere and authentic," she declared. This edition is marked by digitalization, with the collaboration with an e-commerce site and the use of QR codes facilitating access to archaeological sites and the Festival.

Ouassel Bahri, Director of Communication at UIB Bank, announced the novelty of this edition, which is the introduction of the El Jem Prize for the promotion of heritage, to be held on October 25, 2024, in El Jem. This prize, organized by MED21, is dedicated to individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening Mediterranean cooperation. It highlights their influence in diverse fields such as philosophy, humanities, economy, architecture, and literature, inspiring contemporary creation on both sides of the Mediterranean, from south to north.

Ramzi Jenayah, President of the El Jem Festival Association, recalled that the festival not only promotes the archaeological site and museum of El Jem and the entire region but also enhances Tunisia's image. He stressed that the festival requires additional financial support and is seeking private patrons. He reiterated his appeal to the Ministry of Tourism regarding the payment of public subsidies for 2022 and 2023.
