The Tunisian Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, issued a direct appeal to Tunisian expatriate experts to contribute to the reform of the national healthcare system. This call was made on the sidelines of the One Health summit, held in Lyon from April 5 to 7, 2026.
During a meeting with Tunisian researchers and experts residing in France, attended by diplomatic representatives, the minister stated that the diaspora is a "real and essential partner" in this endeavor. He emphasized that their contribution is expected in specific areas, including:
- Remote training and mentoring
- Transfer of expertise and technology
- Development of digital projects
- Telemedicine and artificial intelligence
- Establishment of partnerships with French institutions
To give concrete form to this dynamic, a decision was made to launch a permanent communication network between the ministry and Tunisian expatriate experts. This will take the form of a platform or working group, with identified points of contact and targeted projects that can be realized in the short term.
"Tunisia is now open to its children abroad to build together an advanced and efficient healthcare system," declared Mustapha Ferjani. This statement summarizes the spirit of the meeting and the underlying ambition.
