SAIS Investment Readiness Programme 2026: Applications Now Open
The application period for the SAIS Investment Readiness Programme 2026 is now underway. This free, one-year program is designed for African startups that are transforming agriculture through technology and innovation. Applications must be submitted by September 28, 2025.
Program Benefits
The initiative offers customized support, including:
- Up to €20,000 in technical assistance
- Working capital loans of up to €50,000
- €10,000 in digital support
- Full sponsorship to participate in community events and the Africa Tech Summit in Nairobi Selected startups will also gain direct access to investors, personalized coaching sessions, and a peer network.
Program Impact
Since its inception in 2019, the program has supported over 107 startups, with 70% securing additional funding totaling over $75 million.
Program Implementation
The SAIS Investment Readiness Programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The program targets startups active in agriculture, as well as related sectors such as climate, energy, logistics, biotechnology, and fintech.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested companies must demonstrate a solid business model, a committed team, and measurable impact. Particular attention is given to local founders and gender-diverse management teams.
Selection Process
After a series of interviews in October, the selection results will be announced in mid-November 2025. The official launch of the 2026 cohort is scheduled for late November, with the first gathering taking place in February in Nairobi.
