National Business Register Accelerates Digital Transformation

The National Business Register (RNE) is accelerating its digital transformation. Invited today, September 15, 2025, on Express FM, its General Director, Adel Chouari, presented a series of reforms aimed at simplifying procedures, strengthening transparency, and modernizing administration. The stated goal is to achieve complete digitalization by the first quarter of 2026.

Progress Already Made

The RNE has already taken several steps:

  • Update requests can now be submitted online before providing the original documents at any office, avoiding delays and penalties for professionals.
  • All payments are now made electronically, via bank card, postal card (e-dinar), or a prepaid account offered by the platform. According to Chouari, 85% of transactions were already settled online, and the goal is to eliminate physical payments entirely.

Electronic Certificates and Extracts

Certificates issued by the RNE can also be extracted electronically, except for those related to bankruptcy, which still require in-person delivery. The register extract has been redesigned to better reflect a company's real situation, including:

  • The date of the last update
  • The declaration of the beneficial owner
  • The latest deposited financial statements

Challenges Ahead

This transition still faces several challenges, primarily the lack of a reliable electronic authentication system recognized by the justice system, a condition necessary for validating sensitive documents like contracts. "Data reliability is essential, which is why complete online filing is not yet possible," explained Adel Chouari.

Ambitious Calendar

Despite these limitations, the schedule is ambitious, with upcoming steps including:

  • Online drafting of company statutes
  • Real-time interconnection with the General Directorate of Taxes for patent extraction
  • Electronic filing of financial statements starting from the 2025 fiscal year

Economic Attractiveness and Transparency

Beyond administrative simplification, this digitalization aims to strengthen Tunisia's economic attractiveness. RNE data is already accessible in over 135 countries, a significant advantage for foreign investors. The institution plans to connect with Tunisian banks soon to facilitate identity verification procedures (KYC).

Conclusion

With this modernization, the RNE aims to establish itself as a key tool for transparency and competitiveness, serving a more dynamic business climate adapted to international standards.
