Tunisia Hosts Africa-Middle East Zone Meeting of French Chambers of Commerce and Industry
The Tunisia-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCITF) is hosting the "Africa-Middle East (AMO) Zone Meeting / CCIFI" at the Hotel The Residence in Gammarth, Tunisia, from February 19 to 21, 2023. This significant event brings together presidents, general directors, and international directors of several chambers of commerce and industry (CCI) from the CCI France International and CCI de France networks.
Delegations from countries such as Algeria, Morocco, Madagascar, Jordan, and the Congo, as well as French CCIs from Paris-Ile-de-France and Hauts-de-France, are participating in this meeting. The main objective of this event is to strengthen economic ties, present opportunities offered by the Tunisian market, and discuss development strategies for the involved CCIs.
Key topics being addressed include economic growth levers, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and the promotion of inclusive and sustainable business models. In parallel, the event is showcasing Tunisia's heritage through a program of tourist visits.
The first day, inaugurated by Khelil Chaibi, President of the CCITF, was dedicated to business meetings between CCITF members, CCI France AMO, and CCI France.
Recall that the last edition of the "AMO Zone Meeting" was held in Nairobi, Kenya, in February 2024.
Raja Touil, General Director of the CCITF, highlighted the numerous initiatives undertaken in 2024, including strategic reflection days, meetings with international donors, and missions to international trade fairs. The awarding of excellence trophies also marked the year, aiming to encourage innovation and investment. These efforts have promoted enhanced economic cooperation and supported chamber members in their international endeavors.
Johanne Raharinosy, President of the France-Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFM), shared her experience regarding the central role of the CCIFM in supporting French and Malagasy businesses. With an active team and specialized thematic commissions (female entrepreneurship, tourism, finance, human resources, etc.), the CCIFM represents nearly 70% of Madagascar's GDP.
In 2024, the CCIFM reinforced its support services, particularly in the areas of training – with 1,054 participants from 116 companies – and administrative support, such as business visa management and VAT recovery. It also organized strategic events, international missions, and modernized its communication tools to better respond to the needs of its 456 members.
Looking ahead, the CCIFM plans to structure its administrative and financial initiatives further, while strengthening its regional economic relations. Among its flagship projects, a global event dedicated to women entrepreneurs will take place in Madagascar in April, illustrating the chamber's commitment to promoting economic synergies and international visibility for regional economic actors.
With this Zone Meeting, the CCITF once again confirms Tunisia's strategic role as a platform for economic exchanges in the Africa-Middle East region, while highlighting the multiple opportunities for regional and international cooperation.
