Tunisian National Railway Company Launches Experimental Phase for Phosphate Transport
The Tunisian National Railway Company (Sncft) announced on October 29, 2024, the launch of the experimental phase for the resumption of phosphate transport from the Redeyef station.
The train, composed of 18 wagons, is capable of transporting up to 864 tons of phosphates and has made its first journey to the chemical complex plants in Ghannouch (Gabès governorate).
In an official statement, the company emphasized its commitment to ensuring the necessary conditions for the sustainability of this activity, which is not only a vital axis for its operations and revenue but also a crucial lever for the national economy and regional development.
The resumption of phosphate transport via Sncft is crucial, as it allows for the revitalization of a strategic sector for Tunisia. Phosphate is an important resource for the country, and its efficient transport is necessary to ensure the continuity of supply to chemical industries.
