Tunisia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Economic Cooperation

A new chapter in the cooperation between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia was marked on Friday during a meeting held at the Government Palace in Kasbah. The Head of Government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, welcomed the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan Ben Abdelrahman al-Murshed, accompanied by his delegation. This meeting provided an opportunity to consolidate economic partnerships between the two countries through the signing of a new financing agreement.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, and the Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia, Abdelaziz Ben Ali al-Saqr.

A cooperation agreement was signed on this occasion, focusing on the implementation of the "Southern Oasis Pole" project in the Tataouine governorate. This project is part of Tunisia's new participatory development vision, which relies on the progressive involvement of local, regional, and national structures.

The Head of Government expressed the Tunisian state's willingness to accelerate the execution of ongoing projects, citing the construction of the "King Salman bin Abdulaziz" university hospital in Kairouan. For his part, Sultan Ben Abdelrahman al-Murshed praised the positive dynamic of relations between Tunis and Riyadh, which he attributed to the political will of the leaders of both countries. He reaffirmed the SFD's readiness to support Tunisia in implementing structural projects as part of a future cooperation program, in line with the 2026-2030 Development Plan. This will focus on key areas such as health, infrastructure, renewable energy, digitalization, new technologies, and agriculture.
