Tunisian Tourism Sector Continues to Thrive
The Tunisian tourism sector continues to confirm its recovery. According to the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), tourist revenues reached 7.8 billion dinars as of December 25, 2025, representing a 6.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Record Number of Visitors
This progress is accompanied by a record number of visitors: more than 11 million tourists have chosen Tunisia since the beginning of the year until December 22, announced Minister of Tourism Sofien Tekia during a ceremony organized as part of the "Tounes Lik" campaign, dedicated to promoting domestic tourism, as reported by the TAP agency. This meeting was also an opportunity to present the "Tunis, Arab Tourism Capital in 2027" program, aiming to strengthen the attractiveness of the capital, according to the same source.
Putting Numbers into Perspective
To put these figures into perspective, they far exceed those of 2019, the pre-pandemic year, when 9.4 million tourists visited the country. According to the minister, this performance illustrates that the sector has overcome its recovery phase and is now embarking on a sustainable development strategy, focused on high-end tourism and diversification of the tourist offer.
A Key Driver of Growth
This dynamic, he emphasizes, demonstrates Tunisia's ability to attract more visitors and generate significant revenue, despite international economic and geopolitical uncertainties. Tunisian tourism is thus affirming itself as a key driver of growth, strengthening the country's reputation as an indispensable tourist destination in the Mediterranean.
