Artificial Intelligence Adoption on the Rise Globally
Artificial intelligence is no longer the exclusive domain of Silicon Valley. According to OpenAI's State of Enterprise AI 2025 report, AI is becoming increasingly entrenched in the professional world and is rapidly gaining ground worldwide. Adoption is progressing "across geographies," but it remains marked by economic and organizational disparities.

The report is based on data from OpenAI Enterprise professional clients, mainly located in technologically advanced economies such as the United States, Europe, and Japan. However, other regions are experiencing spectacular growth: Australia is at the top, followed by Brazil, the Netherlands, France, and Canada, with increases of over 140% in the number of professional clients in one year. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany are also among the largest markets in terms of enterprise AI adoption, particularly for Enterprise offerings.
Rapid Progression in Emerging Markets
Beyond advanced markets, progress is even faster in low- and middle-income countries. In some regions, the use of ChatGPT and other AI tools is growing up to 4 times faster than the global average. However, adoption is not uniform: while advanced economies are integrating AI into diverse professional functions, other regions are using it mainly for practical and daily tasks.
A Profound Transformation of the Work World
AI is no longer just about saving time or improving result quality. It is redefining work methods, transforming collaboration, and opening up new innovation and value creation perspectives. Yesterday confined to pilot projects, it is now a constituent element of professional tools and workflows.
Africa and AI: A Continent on the Move
Some external data provides insight into adoption on the African continent. According to the July 2025 Global Digital Report, 42.1% of Kenyan internet users aged 16 and older have used ChatGPT in the last month, placing Kenya at the top of the world for the use of this tool.
However, the continent shows a notable divergence. Kenya far surpasses its African neighbors. South Africa has a rate of 15.3%, Egypt 9.8%, and Nigeria 8.2%. Morocco and South Africa also appear among the most AI-aware markets in certain surveys.
Note that OpenAI recently launched ChatGPT Go in Africa, a more affordable version of its AI. Additionally, major investments, such as the $1 billion from the Emirates to develop AI on the continent, are stimulating infrastructure and training, even if these initiatives are not directly from the OpenAI report.
