EiA and Briter Publish Report on Funding Landscape for Technological Innovation in Africa
The EiA (Enrich in Africa) center, in collaboration with Briter, has published a report titled "Exploration of the Funding Landscape for Technological Innovation Ecosystems in Africa". The report aims to map out the current use of funding to support entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as identify future needs in this area.
According to the report, when it comes to funding for innovation ecosystem support, the Ministry of Communication Technologies and the Presidency of the Tunisian Government are among the main beneficiaries in Africa. Moreover, 70% of the total funding volume for technological innovation ecosystem support in Africa is allocated to intermediaries located on the continent. Tunisia, Kenya, and Rwanda are the top destinations for funding.
Funding for entrepreneurship and innovation often falls under the category of technical assistance funding provided by public and private development finance institutions such as Mastercard Foundation, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and USAID. These funds play a crucial role in the development of Africa's technological ecosystem.
Among the most important resources for understanding what's happening in the African startup, technology, and investment ecosystem is an article by Y Combinator, an accelerator for startups, which announces significant statistics about the top companies of 2024.
Regarding professional opportunities, there is Africa's Business Heroes 2024, a prize competition open to applications until June 9, 2024.
