Tunisian Rania Toukebri Wins Prestigious Award for Female Achievement
Rania Toukebri, a Tunisian national, has made her country proud by receiving the Trophy for Female Achievement, awarded by the EuroMediterranean association at the prestigious French Senate, Palais du Luxembourg, under the patronage of Dhia Khaled, Tunisia's ambassador to France.
This symbolic recognition is not just a milestone, but the culmination of over a decade of passion, hard work, and resilience. For Rania Toukebri, this award goes beyond a title: it carries a message of hope for women across the Maghreb, Africa, the Arab world, and beyond. "Nothing is impossible," she affirms to those who dream of breaking glass ceilings.
An Exemplary Career
A graduate of the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (INSAT), Rania Toukebri pursued her trajectory in France, where she obtained several specialized master's degrees before joining the University of Lübeck in Germany as a researcher.
Today, Rania Toukebri is the first Tunisian, Arab, and African astronaut, selected for a two-week pre-space mission in Poland scheduled for the end of September.
Her expertise places her at the heart of major space missions, including Artemis, the first inhabited mission to the Moon in the 21st century led by NASA with the support of the ESA. She also contributes to the planetary defense program DART-HERA, the JUICE mission (exploring Jupiter's icy moons), the PLATO space telescope, and STARLAB, a private space station project that embodies the future of commercial space.
Beyond her technical career, Rania Toukebri advocates for greater female representation in science and technology. She actively works within the Space4Women network, supported by the UN, to inspire and support young women in pursuing careers in space.
