Ministry of Agriculture Prepares for Ramadan with Abundant Food Supply

The representative of the General Directorate of Agricultural Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, presented today at a press conference the ministry's preparations for the sacred month of Ramadan.

The data presented by the Ministry of Agriculture regarding producer-to-consumer sales points showed that there are 10 sales points throughout the year in Alain Savary Bordj Amri, Tibar, Nafidha, Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid, Sidi Chamakh, two points in Sfax, and one in Bouthdi. Additionally, five more points will be added during the sacred month of Ramadan in Slimane, Bizerte, Siliana, El Kef, and Gafsa.

The products offered at the sales points include all types of fruits, including 274 tons of squash, vegetables, including 5 tons of peppers, 4 tons of tomatoes, and 1 ton of gourds, as well as high-quality dates at reasonable prices, according to the report. The national olive oil program will also continue.

A significant quantity of food products will be made available, including approximately 30 tons of chicken, 12 million eggs, and red meat from cattle and sheep. This supply will be available one week before Ramadan.

In parallel, the Mixed Professional Dates Complex (CPMD) will organize the direct sale of dates, setting up six tents in several cities, including Sfax, Tunis, Nabeul, Beja, and Bizerte, from late January to late February, to supply the market.
