Creating a Payment Solution is No Longer Enough

The challenge for African fintech companies is now to cross borders, connect systems, and comply with regulations that still differ from one country to another. This is where the MENA Fintech Association (MFTA) wants to strengthen its action.

About the MENA Fintech Association

Created in 2018, the association brings together startups, banks, investors, technology companies, and regulators around the issues of digital finance in the MENA region. Its African chapter, launched in July 2023, focuses on payments, regulation, and cooperation between fintech ecosystems.

New Leadership for the African Chapter

In this dynamic, the MFTA appointed two Tunisians, Cyrine Sanchou and Nizar Hannachi, as co-presidents of its African chapter on July 17, 2026. Cyrine Sanchou and Nizar Hannachi have complementary profiles in the Tunisian financial sector.

Cyrine Sanchou's Profile

Cyrine Sanchou is a strategic advisor and member of the board of directors of BIAT. She has worked on projects related to the evolution of financial institutions and has experience in digital transformation. A graduate of École Centrale Paris, HEC Paris, and Télécom Paris, she has also worked on financial transformation issues in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Nizar Hannachi's Profile

Nizar Hannachi brings experience focused on digital payments and financial inclusion. As Deputy General Manager of Enda Tao, he has over 25 years of experience in the banking sector, including at BNP Paribas and Bank ABC. His career covers digital financial services, payment solutions, and cross-border transactions.

Goals and Objectives

Through this co-presidency, the two leaders will contribute to the MFTA's work on regulatory issues, interoperability of financial systems, and the development of digital services in Africa.

A Tunisian Story

This appointment also tells a Tunisian story, one of profiles that, after evolving in the banking and technology sectors, are now taking part in shaping African digital finance.
