The Henley Passport Index 2025: Singapore Takes the Lead

The Henley Passport Index 2025, published on January 8 by Henley & Partners, evaluates the power of 199 passports based on the number of visa-free destinations.

For 2025, the Singaporean passport dominates the top spot, offering visa-free entry to 195 out of 227 global destinations.

It is followed by Japan (193 destinations), which benefits from the reopening of Chinese borders post-Covid, and a group of European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, and South Korea, occupying the third position with 192 destinations.

According to the same ranking, other European countries such as Austria, Sweden, and the Netherlands reach 191 destinations, while nations like Portugal, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom allow access to 190 locations.

The United States, once at the top of the ranking, falls to ninth place with 184 destinations. The United Kingdom also experiences a significant decline, dropping from first place in 2015 to fifth. On the contrary, China makes progress, rising from 94th to 60th place, offering visa-free access to 85 countries.
