Minimum Wage Adjustments in Tunisia: What You Need to Know
As of January 1st, 2025, minimum wages in Tunisia will undergo another adjustment, with significant consequences. Here are the new rates:
SMIG (Guaranteed Minimum Interprofessional Wage)
- 48-hour workweek regime: 528,320 TND (excluding indemnities and bonuses)
- 40-hour workweek regime: 448,238 TND (excluding indemnities and bonuses)
When adding the transportation allowance (36,112 TND) and presence allowance (2,080 TND), the SMIG will be:
- 566,512 TND for the 48-hour workweek regime
- 486,430 TND for the 40-hour workweek regime
SMAG (Guaranteed Minimum Agricultural Wage)
- Ordinary worker: 508 TND
- Specialized worker: 535,100 TND
- Qualified worker: 558,950 TND
As a result, quarterly CNSS (National Social Security Fund) contributions will increase. This will enable the fund to ensure retirement pensions, which will also increase automatically following this second revaluation in six months.
For companies, this means an increase in the wage bill, even though we are talking about very low wages that are no longer sufficient given the cost of living.
Finally, these increases, combined with the impact of revisions to the IRPP (Personal Income Tax) table, will boost purchasing power by at least 50 million TND per month. If you see inflation stagnating, don't be surprised.
