All Tunisian Banks Must Integrate into a Digital Platform for Check Transactions
Each Tunisian bank is now required to integrate into a digital platform dedicated to check transactions. As a result, every banking establishment must ensure that its information systems align with this new infrastructure, respecting the requirements set by the interoperability authority.
This digital platform offers a range of services aimed at facilitating operations for clients and check beneficiaries. The main features include:
- Free electronic services allowing clients to easily access information related to their bank accounts
- Instant verification of fund availability and check status (e.g., whether the check is affected by theft, loss, issuance prohibition, or account closure)
- Real-time verification of the balance on the issuer's account, enabling the concerned bank to be informed and the corresponding amount to be assigned to the issued check
- Immediate notification to the beneficiary confirming the transaction approval and check amount, with an extended validity period of eight working days
- Conservation of all transaction records and exchanged notices for a minimum period of ten years from the operation date
The platform ensures continuous service throughout the week, operating 24/7 to meet user needs.
It is essential to note that the Central Bank plays a crucial role in setting up this system, providing banks with necessary guidelines on data exchange and security. Additionally, it will inform the general public about the platform's access modalities, respecting legal deadlines.
