Senegal Aims to Boost Digital Sector's Contribution to 10% of GDP by 2030

Senegal is ambitious to increase the digital sector's contribution to 10% of its GDP by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital has signed a protocol agreement with Google to create a sovereign cloud, designed to protect sensitive data and meet the needs of administrations and businesses.

This initiative follows the visit of Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to the United States for the 79th United Nations General Assembly, where he met with leaders of major tech companies.

The creation of this local cloud is expected to ensure control over critical data in sectors such as finance, health, and security, while developing cloud computing skills.

Currently, Senegal scores 0.5142 in the "E-Government Survey 2024", higher than the continental average.
