Ministry of Equipment and Housing Signs Contract for Construction of Four Regional Hospitals

The Ministry of Equipment and Housing has signed a contract for the construction and equipment of four regional hospitals of category "B" in Ghardimaou, Guelma, Haffouz, and Makthar. The project, with a total cost of 358.7 million Tunisian dinars, is jointly financed by the Tunisian state budget and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday, March 17, 2025, under the presidency of the Minister of Equipment and Housing, in the presence of the Ambassador of Kuwait to Tunisia. Also present were representatives from the Ministries of Health, Foreign Affairs, Economy, and Planning, as well as several officials from the Ministry of Equipment and Housing.

These hospital infrastructures will be implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Equipment and Housing as the delegated project owner, on behalf of the Ministry of Health. Each hospital will have a capacity of 105 beds and will include several services, including:

  • Outpatient consultations
  • Emergency and medical assistance services
  • Operating rooms
  • Intensive care units
  • Specialized services in internal medicine, general surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, and pediatrics
  • Laboratories
  • Blood bank
  • Pharmacy
  • Morgue
  • Various technical equipment

During the ceremony, the Minister emphasized the need for the company in charge of the project to respect the contractual deadlines and ensure optimal quality of work. She highlighted that improving healthcare services is a priority for the Tunisian authorities, in line with the directives of the President of the Republic, who considers access to quality healthcare a fundamental right for all Tunisians, regardless of their place of residence.

The Ambassador of Kuwait, for his part, reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting the development of healthcare infrastructure in Tunisia. He praised the experience and competence of the company in charge of the project and expressed his wish to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries through other initiatives and future projects.
