PayPal users have recently fallen victim to fraudulent calls generated by AI, mimicking the platform's customer service, according to an investigation reported by Sudinfo.
The scam is clever: a voice message pretends to be from PayPal, alerting users to a suspicious transaction. The user is asked to confirm or deny the operation by pressing a key. Regardless of the response, the call is transferred to a real person who, under the pretext of resolving the issue, requests banking information.
Experts from Safeonweb recommend never interacting with this type of call and hanging up immediately. In case of doubt, it is advised to contact your bank or the official customer service to verify the authenticity of the request.
