The Taparura project, long-awaited by the inhabitants of Sfax, has reached a new stage. The Minister of Equipment and Housing confirmed during the plenary session of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) on Monday, March 30, 2026, that final consultations are underway with the Saudi side to officially launch the works.
A Project Finally in Motion

Coordination meetings are now planned with Saudi partners to finalize the modalities for launching the project. No specific launch date has been announced, but the Minister indicated that these consultations are nearing completion, suggesting a start within the next few months.
Investment in Sfax
This announcement is part of a broader report presented to the ARP on several infrastructure projects in Sfax. The Minister notably mentioned the progress of the north-south entrance project to the city, which is being carried out in three phases. The first phase will resume soon with new contractors, the second phase has exceeded 90% completion, and the third phase has been validated with soil and metal bridge adjustments.
Other Infrastructure Projects
Additionally, the three remaining interchanges on the ring road have been scheduled as part of the 2026-2030 plan, with the first strategic interchange expected to be completed before the end of 2026.
