Head of Government Chairs First Meeting of Mega-Project Commission
The Head of Government, Kamel Madouri, chaired the first meeting of the mega-project commission yesterday, Wednesday, at the Government Palace in the Kasbah. This meeting falls within the framework of the Head of State's instructions aimed at simplifying the procedures for implementing public projects and accelerating their completion to meet the legitimate expectations of citizens and promote equitable and sustainable regional development.
In accordance with Decree No. 497-2024, the commission reviewed the progress of public projects in priority sectors such as health, commerce, sports, and infrastructure. Several measures were adopted, including:
- Prioritizing strategic or blocked projects on a priority list
- Launching the production market platform in the center immediately
- Validating the reconstruction of the Hedi Chaker University Hospital in Sfax with a budget of 103 million dinars
- Efforts will also be made to make the Bir Ali Ben Khalifa Regional Hospital fully operational as soon as possible
The commission also decided to:
- Launch the reconstruction works of the El Menzah Olympic Stadium in the second half of 2025
- Ensure the transfer of the operation of the Ben Guerdane red meat complex to the Meat Company to optimize this investment
- Improve abattoir infrastructure and connect the Ben Guerdane free zone to a wastewater treatment station
The Head of Government called on public organizations to remove logistical, technical, financial, and land-related obstacles to accelerate the implementation of strategic projects, while emphasizing the importance of:
- Simplifying and digitizing administrative procedures
- Strengthening transparency
- Promoting a favorable investment climate to relaunch the national economy and establish the foundations of a social state.
