Ministry of Agriculture Clarifies Information on Olive Oil Prices for 2024-2025 Season
The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Maritime Fisheries has issued a statement on October 28 to clarify recent information circulating about olive oil prices for the 2024-2025 season.
Contrary to unofficial rumors relayed by certain media outlets and social networks, the state-supported price of olive oil has not yet been set.
For the 2023-2024 season, the National Olive Oil Bureau marketed 7.5 million liters of extra virgin olive oil on the local market, representing 25% of national consumption.
This program, initiated at the request of the President of the Republic, allowed for the oil to be offered at a differential price of 15 dinars per liter, which was well-received by citizens.
Regarding the current season, with the start of olive harvesting and processing operations, the National Olive Oil Bureau is closely monitoring price developments, which remain subject to fluctuations in the global market.
In coordination with the ministry, it is studying the best options to support domestic consumption of extra virgin olive oil.
However, no study has been conducted to establish a new price, contrary to information disseminated by certain sources.
The ministry urges the public to obtain information only through its official channels to avoid any confusion or misinformation on the subject.
