The Future of Employment in Tunisia: A Shift Towards Technology and Innovation
According to the "Future of Employment 2025" report by the World Economic Forum, the Tunisian job market is expected to undergo a significant transformation by 2030, with a 20% change in job roles, slightly below the global average of 22%. This change is largely driven by technological advancements and new skill requirements. Specialists in big data, AI, and machine learning, as well as robotics engineers, will be among the most sought-after profiles, while traditional jobs such as accountants, auditors, and factory workers may decline.
However, this transition is marked by major challenges. Nearly 80% of Tunisian companies identify skill deficits as the main obstacle to their transformation. Meanwhile, the increasing cost of living and slow economic growth further complicate the adaptation of businesses. To address this, 86% of employers plan to develop their staff's skills, focusing on leadership, creative thinking, and AI- and big data-related skills.
Training strategies play a central role in this transition. Seven out of ten companies plan to fund these initiatives internally, while 40% will rely on hybrid models combining public and private funding. This approach reflects a willingness to adopt flexible solutions to keep pace with economic and technological trends.
To succeed in this transformation, Tunisia must invest heavily in education and continuous training. By supporting innovation and valuing digital and human skills, the country can position itself as a competitive player in the global economy of tomorrow.
