Tunisair Publishes Detailed Guide to Help Passengers Prepare Their Luggage
As the summer season is in full swing, Tunisair has published a detailed guide to help its passengers prepare their luggage in accordance with security standards and avoid any inconvenience at the airport. The goal is to ensure a smooth and secure journey for all.
Prohibited Items in the Cabin
To avoid confiscation or delays, the Tunisian national airline reminds passengers of the following strictly prohibited items in the cabin:
- Liquids exceeding 100 ml
- Explosives, fireworks, compressed gases
- Real or fake weapons, sharp objects
- Toxic, flammable, or radioactive products
- Lithium batteries and devices powered by these batteries (hoverboards, e-skates, etc.)
European Liquid Restrictions
Particular attention is paid to European restrictions on liquids (gels, creams, aerosols). Tunisair advises placing them in checked luggage whenever possible.
Practical Tips
For checked luggage, several precautions are essential:
- Label each suitcase (name, coordinates)
- Weigh your luggage before departure (max. 23 kg or 32 kg depending on the destination)
- Never leave your belongings unattended and refuse packages from unknown individuals
Authorized Dimensions and Weight
The maximum authorized dimensions are 158 cm (H+L+l), with a limited number of 10 bags per passenger. Excess baggage fees apply beyond this limit, varying depending on the destination (from 65 TND to 400 €).
Exceptions and Particularities
- Pets: Their transport is charged as excess baggage, except for assistance dogs
- Passengers with Reduced Mobility: A wheelchair or oxygen concentrator (POC) is accepted free of charge
- Infants: A 10 kg bag is allowed if the child does not have a dedicated seat
- Sports Equipment: Skis, bicycles, or surfboards follow excess baggage rules, except for golf bags (15 kg max)
Baggage Allowances: What Changes Depending on Your Destination
Tunisair applies the Piece Concept, with varying allowances:
- Economy Class: 1 to 3 bags of 23 kg depending on the destination (Europe, Africa, North America)
- Business Class: Up to 3 bags of 23 kg
New Option: Prepaid Additional Piece
A new option allows passengers to add an extra bag (23 kg max) at a reduced rate, purchasable 24 hours before the flight.
Transporting Liquids: Rules to Remember
While liquids in the cabin are limited, certain countries (EU, Switzerland) impose strict controls. Tunisair recommends placing them in checked luggage, except for exceptions like medications or essential products.
