Tunisia Signs Agreement for Construction of Two Solar Power Plants
The Tunisian government signed an agreement on Wednesday, May 8, at the Government Palace in La Kasbah, for the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 300 megawatts in Gafsa and Tataouine, according to a government statement.
Details of the Project
The plant in Gafsa will have a production capacity of 100 MW, while the one in Tataouine will have a capacity of 200 MW. These two stations will create 100 jobs.
Investment and Timeline
The project, with a total investment of approximately 800 million dinars, is part of a call for tenders launched for the implementation of renewable energy projects. The Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, in charge of Energy Transition, Wael Chouchane, announced that the project will begin in 2025, with production expected to start in 2026.
