Government Increases Pressure on Public Projects
The government is stepping up efforts to accelerate the completion of ongoing large-scale projects. On June 4, Head of Government Sarra Zaafrani Zanzri called for the speedy realization of major projects and the removal of obstacles hindering their execution.
The authorities reviewed the progress of several key projects in the healthcare, transportation, energy, water, digital, and education sectors. The projects under scrutiny include the Bizerte bridge, the Tunis-Jelma highway, the Rapid Railway Network, the Tunisia-Italy ELMED electrical interconnection, as well as several regional and university hospitals currently under construction. The government is counting on these investments to support growth, improve public services, and stimulate employment in the regions. Particular attention was paid to delays in project completion, with a call to strengthen on-site monitoring and accelerate administrative procedures. The executive also highlighted ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate, including the revision of certain regulatory texts, reducing processing times for files, simplifying administrative authorizations, and developing the administration's digital services.
