World Economic Forum Announces 100 Tech Pioneers for 2024

The World Economic Forum has announced the selection of 100 companies to join its Tech Pioneers in 2024. These companies aim to apply cutting-edge artificial intelligence to develop new energy solutions, health innovations, and advancements in biotechnology, space, and neurotechnology.

This year's Tech Pioneers group features the largest representation from the world's leading entrepreneurial ecosystems, with the United States and China leading the way, followed by India, which has a record number of startups in the group this year.

Among the African startups included in the 2024 Tech Pioneers are:

  • Khazna (Egypt): Building a workforce bank for underserved individuals across the Middle East, starting with Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
  • BasiGo (Kenya): Offering electric buses to East African bus operators as a more affordable and reliable alternative to existing diesel buses.
  • Jetstream (Ghana): Using digitalization and AI to simplify the import and export cargo transportation and financing process across African supply chains.
  • Kapu (Kenya): Developing a new retail model for the African mass market.
  • uLesson (Nigeria): Providing a vast library of video lessons and quizzes aligned with primary and secondary school curricula for African students.
