Industrial Project Completion Rate Improves in Tunisia
A survey by the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) highlights a slight improvement in the completion rate of industrial projects in Tunisia. Between 2020 and 2023, 66.6% of declared projects were completed, with notable progress in terms of investments and job creation.
Extension projects account for a significant share of investments and job creation, while fully export-oriented projects contribute significantly to realized investments. Tunisian entrepreneurs stand out with a high completion rate.
The most active sectors in terms of investments are agri-food, mechanical and electrical industries, and textiles. In terms of job creation, the textile sector generates almost half of the created positions.
Regarding female entrepreneurship, the survey reveals that 582 projects were declared by women, with a completion rate of 79.2%, up from the previous survey (76.3%). This indicates a positive dynamic and growing engagement of women in the industrial sector.
At the regional level, most governorates recorded completion rates above 50%, except for the regions of Béja, Tataouine, Jendouba, and Gabès, where the results are weaker.
In regional development zones, completion rates remain lower, particularly in terms of investments and job creation.
