Tunis Municipality Launches "Taamir": A New Online Platform for Building Permits

The Municipality of Tunis has officially launched "Taamir," a dedicated online service for submitting and tracking building permit applications. Under this new system, project owners can now submit their applications electronically, provided they attach the required technical documents in the specified format and ensure that the content complies with applicable urban planning regulations.

Dual Objectives: Efficiency and Transparency

The initiative is driven by a dual ambition:

• Reducing processing times for permit applications.
• Enhancing transparency by allowing applicants to monitor the progress of their files in real time.

However, the municipality has clarified that this digital transition does not alter the current administrative procedures. Applications submitted prior to the launch of the service will continue to be processed under the existing framework and will not be affected by this new development.

A Local Implementation of a National Initiative

The Tunisian rollout is part of a broader national project announced in late June. This nationwide initiative aims to digitize the entire building permit journey—from initial application to final approval—across 16 municipalities, including Sfax, Bizerte, Kairouan, La Marsa, and Djerba.

The project is supported by a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the German development agency GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).
