New Rule for Obtaining a Driver's License in Tunisia
As of September 1, 2025, no candidate will be allowed to take the theoretical driving test without submitting a signed training contract with their application. Any incomplete application will be automatically rejected.
This decision stems from the application of Article 23 of Government Decree No. 510 of 2021, dated June 18, 2021, which defines the categories of driver's licenses and sets the conditions for their issuance, validity, and renewal.
In practical terms, each application must include a copy of the training contract page bearing the signatures of both the candidate and the driving school representative, accompanied by the establishment's stamp. The Technical Agency for Land Transport specifies that this measure applies to both new applicants and candidates who have already failed the theoretical test.
The stated objective is to better regulate driver training and enhance transparency in the process of obtaining a driver's license.
