35th Carthage Film Festival: Tunisian Film "Les Enfants Rouges" Wins Top Prize

The Grand Prix of the 35th Carthage Film Festival (JCC) has been awarded to the feature film "Les Enfants Rouges" by Lotfi Achour, making it the 10th Tunisian film to win the Golden Tanit award since the festival's creation in 1966.

The complete list of winners of the official competition was revealed on Saturday evening during a ceremony held at the Opera Theater in the City of Culture in Tunis.

"Les Enfants Rouges" also won the Audience Award, shared with the Syrian film "Salma" by Joud Said.

The Grand Prix of the JCC is awarded to the best work in the feature film competition. Tunisia succeeds Tanzania, which won the Grand Prix in 2022 for "Les Révoltés (Vuta N'Kuvute)" by Amil Shivji, and Egypt, which won in 2021 for "Feathers" by Omar Zohairy.

In the same competition, "To a Land Unknown" by Palestinian-Danish director Mehdi Fleifel won the Silver Tanit, while the Bronze Tanit was awarded to "Demba" by Senegalese director Mamadou Dia.

Tunisian cinema also won four other awards, including three Tanits in the documentary competition.

The short film "Les Derniers Jours avec Eliane" by Mehdi Hajri won the Golden Tanit. The feature film "Matula" by Abdallah Yahia and the short film "Bord à Bord" by Sahar El Euchi respectively won the Bronze Tanit.

"Aicha", a feature film by Mehdi Barsaoui, won the Best Editing Award, attributed to French editor Camille Toubkis.
