Tunisia Takes a Major Step towards Inclusion of People with Disabilities

As of tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, a registration platform will open its doors to access a financing line of 5 million dinars, dedicated to supporting people with disabilities in their professional and social integration. This announcement was made on Wednesday, July 16, by the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Riadh Chaoued, during a national conference dedicated to the employment of people with disabilities.

This device, inscribed in the 2025 finance law, aims to provide interest-free loans of up to 10,000 dinars, repayable over eight years with a two-year grace period. It targets people with disabilities who are capable of exercising a profession or generating income, with the objective of strengthening their financial inclusion.

The conference concluded with the signing of an organizational note in partnership with specialized associations, defining the modalities of implementation of this initiative. Among the measures planned, the expansion of the fields of intervention of the National Employment Fund and the National Vocational Training Fund to finance the adaptation of workplaces and encourage telework.

Furthermore, a specific support program will be launched to facilitate access to decent employment, whether salaried or independent, complemented by targeted training to improve the employability of beneficiaries. A guidance guide and a reference framework dedicated to this purpose will also be developed.

Some private training institutions will offer free sessions for people with disabilities, while the recruitment needs of companies will be announced to better orient these actions.

Khalifa Seboui, General Director of the Tunisian Solidarity Bank (BTS), specified that additional measures are planned, such as debt rescheduling and the opening of financing lines of one million dinars for associations working in favor of people with disabilities.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Lahmar, emphasized that this financing line will contribute to strengthening social justice, stressing the need to reserve a quota in development programs for this category and to ensure their rights and total inclusion in all sectors.
