Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Development Opens Seminar on African Continental Free Trade Area
The Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, opened a seminar for Tunisian exporting companies on Monday, October 27, in Tunis, as part of the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf). The seminar focused on the opportunities offered by African markets and the means to strengthen Tunisia's presence on the continent.
Attendees and Participants
The meeting was attended by the Tunisian Export Promotion Center (Cepex), Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), and numerous exporting companies.
Minister's Intervention
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that Africa represents a strategic axis for Tunisia, offering new economic perspectives. He announced the creation of a digital platform for issuing certificates of origin, recalling that over 350 Zlecaf certificates have already been issued since May 2023.
Support for Exporting Companies
Abid also announced that think tanks will be set up to encourage African integration and support exporting companies. This initiative aims to facilitate the integration of Tunisian companies into the African market and promote economic cooperation between Tunisia and other African countries.
Honoring Successful Exporting Companies
At the end of the seminar, several Tunisian companies that have successfully exported goods under the Zlecaf framework were honored for their performances. This recognition aims to encourage other companies to explore the opportunities offered by the African market and to increase Tunisia's exports to the continent.
