OpenAI Establishes First Office in Seoul, Responding to Soaring Demand for ChatGPT in South Korea
OpenAI announced on Monday that it will establish its first office in Seoul and create a legal entity in South Korea, in response to the surge in demand for its ChatGPT service in the country.
According to OpenAI, South Korea is the second-largest market in the world, after the United States, in terms of paid subscribers to ChatGPT.
The company has also begun recruiting personnel to support its partnerships in the country and plans to share more details on this in the coming months.
Jason Kwon stated that South Korea's integrated artificial intelligence ecosystem makes it one of the most promising markets in the world for significant AI impact, from hardware to software, from students to seniors.
Earlier this year, OpenAI had announced the development of artificial intelligence solutions for South Korea, in partnership with messaging operator Kakao.
