OpenAI Unveils GPT-4o, a Revolutionary AI Model Capable of Realistic Voice Conversations

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has announced the release of a new AI model called GPT-4o. This model is capable of engaging in realistic voice conversations and interacting through text and images. This is the company's latest initiative to stay ahead in the race to dominate this emerging technology.

During a live event, OpenAI researchers demonstrated the new audio features, which enable users to speak to ChatGPT and receive real-time responses without delay. Additionally, users can interrupt ChatGPT while it's speaking, two characteristics of realistic conversations that AI-based voice assistants have struggled to replicate.

In a blog post, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that this technology resembles something out of a sci-fi movie, and that speaking to a computer has never felt so natural. "It's like talking to a person," he said.

During the live event, OpenAI researchers showcased the new vocal assistant capabilities of ChatGPT. In one demonstration, ChatGPT used its vision and voice capabilities to guide a researcher in solving a math equation on a piece of paper.

In another demonstration, the researchers demonstrated the GPT-4o model's ability to instantly translate languages in real-time.

The new model will be available in ChatGPT in the coming weeks and will be offered for free, as it is more profitable than the company's previous models, according to OpenAI's CTO, Mira Murati.
